We are a small, family oriented kennel based in midwestern Ontario, Canada and have been involved in rearing Alapahas since 2004. Since that time, almost all of our siblings and parents now own one of our dogs. Everyone who's seen them are impressed with their intelligence and character.
We do not breed with the goal of having a lot of litters per year. We breed selectively, with our sights set on better workability and drive, health, intelligence and body shape. Color and 'looks' are not our main drive either. What good is a beautiful looking dog that cannot calculate common sense?
We are striving to create a Canadian standard for Alapahas as the climate here creates different demands on our canine friends. Our goal is to have this breed slightly larger and taller to maintain heat and continue to work with cattle through the winter months. Because of the intense snowfall in many regions of Canada, we remove dewclaws to prevent any undue pain to our animals. For the vast majority of the population that prefer to have these dogs as companions and guardians, we also dock tails. For many home owners, the whip of their long tails clearing the coffee table can become an annoyance.
We have bred other bulldogs in the past, namely Bullmastiffs. We are passionate about all bull breeds but have fallen in love with the intelligence, health and character of the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog.
